The Los Osos Basin Management Committee (Los Osos BMC) consist of representatives from the Los Osos Community Services District, Golden State Water Company, S&T Mutual Water Company, and the County of San Luis Obispo. The formation of the Los Osos BMC was part of the court approved Stipulated Judgment in October 2015. The Los Osos BMC oversees the implementation of the Los Osos Basin Plan in the adjudicated area of the locally define groundwater basin in Los Osos Valley - Los Osos Area Subbasin (DWR Basin 3-8.01).

Sustainable Groundwater Management Act

In 2015, the State legislature approved a groundwater management law known as the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). DWR categorized the Los Osos Valley Groundwater Basin as a high priority basin and designated the basin to be in a “condition of critical overdraft”.
